The Mangere Historical Society was formed in 1982 to collect and preserve the history of the Mangere area: Mangere Bridge, Mangere Central, Mangere East, Middlemore, Favona, Ihumatao and Pukaki.
Meetings
Meetings are held in the St James Anglican Church Hall, 31 Church Road, Mangere Bridge, 1.30pm on the third Tuesday of each month. All welcome.
Archives
The society’s archives room at Mangere Town Centre (behind the library and next to the CAB) is open to the public Mondays 10.00 am–1.00 pm. A photocopier and scanner are available. For assistance, phone Judith Wilson on 021 054 7154, or email: mangerehistoricalsociety@gmail.com.
Some of the society’s photographs can be seen on the Auckland Libraries Kura Website and Digital New Zealand. The society also reports selected holdings on the Community Archive and NZ Museums websites.
